Davros Industries Inc was contracted to oversee the design and build of an automated machine, with a focus on ensuring cost and schedule targets were met.
Problem: After reviewing vendor concepts for the machine, it was clear that not only was the device going to be very costly, it was not going to meet all of the necessary specifications, such as low backlash, high rigidity, low overall height, serviceability, and several others.
Solution: Davros proposed a different concept that met all of the specifications with 5 less servo motors, and more robust off-the-shelf components. After understanding the customer’s needs, other features were also incorporated to aid in installation and maintenance.
Davros created conceptual layouts, obtained competitive quotes, and managed the selected vendor through to final build and testing. The end result was a satisfied customer who invested significantly less money to obtain a superior product.
